O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
Marilyn Davis (Choir Director and Church Organist)
Marilyn has been involved with music from a young age, receiving musical influences from her mother and the church. She received the call of the Lord to minister in the church’s musical ministry as a teacher and musician and started to teach her first group of singers soon after she became a born again Christian at the age of 12.
Marilyn has a strong passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ and is fully aware of the music’s ability to help reach and uplift hearts in worship and service to the Lord. She enjoys her role as organist and director of the local church choir and has been instrumental in developing it into a dynamic force that blesses the hearts of its hearers. She also finds the time to tutor adults and children (in her local community) giving keyboard and singing lessons thus enabling them to go on to minister in their own churches. She feels very privileged to be part of this special ministry and to be doing the work that God has called her to do.
The Croydon Choir has a repertoire of uplifting gospel music that blesses the hearts of its hearers. The choir consists of a variety of talented and dedicated singers who are members of the Derby Road, Croydon Church. Having dedicated their time and skills to the glory of God, the choir’s aim is to edify the body of Christ (the church), as well as reaching the local community and beyond with the message of salvation.
The choir ministers on Sabbaths during services and at special events including concerts, community events, weddings and funerals.
Choir practices are mainly held on Sabbath evenings at 6.30pm, three times per month.
